Philip J. Cardinale, Jr.

Philip J. Cardinale is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice focuses on copyright law.

Before joining Drinker Biddle, Phil attained a doctorate in English Literature from Oxford University, where as a graduate student he taught and worked as Junior Dean of St Edmund Hall.  He previously interned with the U.S. Trade Representative’s Intellectual Property and Innovation Office, focusing primarily on the Special 301 Report on global intellectual property law compliance, and earlier worked as a newspaper reporter on eastern Long Island, New York.

Phil received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2007.  He received his bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in English and classical languages and has published articles in those academic fields as well as in intellectual property law.  Phil has also formerly been a college football player, volunteer firefighter and White House intern.

Phil currently serves as vice-chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the American Bar Association's Committee on Copyright and New Technologies.
